Waiting room magazines may be spreading bacteria

Infection Control

The National Health Service in the UK issued an advisory to dental practices that their waiting room magazines may be responsible for spreading bacteria. The advisory stated that magazines should be thrown out after just one week in the office.

In addition, health officials in the UK found that 11% of dental practices surveyed were not following recommended protocols for cleaning and disinfecting instruments. The British Dental Association believes that around 6% of practices do not follow recommended infection control procedures.
