VOCO presented several very remarkable developments at the IDS 2015. The fast-setting glass ionomer material IonoStar® Plus, for example, is flowable yet packable. Its innovative formulation allows the material to switch immediately from flowable to a packable material thanks to a change in viscosity. And with Clip Flow, VOCO brings out the first flowable restorative material for temporary restorations. Developed especially for the prophylaxis sector, VOCO has introduced the protective dental cream Remin Pro® forte, adding ginger to the range of flavours available in the Remin Pro product range. Furthermore, Celalux® 3, a new cordless high-performance LED light-curing device in a pen design was released. It weighs only 70 grams and can be handled like any other instrument in the surgery.
The most remarkable new development, however, was Admira® Fusion, the world's first restorative material to combine ORMOCER® with nanohybrid technology. "In this case," emphasises David Reyno from VOCO Australia, "both the fillers and the matrix are based on silicon oxide which represents a truly innovative research achievement." Thanks to this, Admira Fusion boasts a high filler content, extremely low shrinkage of only 1.25%, excellent biocompatibility and optimal colour stability. Admira Fusion's particularly high colour stability allows its absolutely universal use for highest demands. "Admira Fusion is the world's first restorative that does not contain any classic monomer such as BisGMA, UDMA or TEGDMA. The revolutionary composition of Admira Fusion allows VOCO to enter a new age in adhesive dentistry," Mr Reyno said.
Another highlight at the VOCO trade fair stand was the "Dental Education Centre" hosting short presentations by renowned speakers from different countries and hands-on courses covering the latest topics in dentistry. These include modern composite technologies, highly aesthetic restorations, post-endodontic treatments and aspects of light polymerisation. Participants in these events had not only the chance to acquire new insights and exchange experiences with other professionals, but also awarded up to two CPD credits for each course.
"With the Dental Education Centre," explained Mr Reyno, "VOCO again proved its continuing education credentials and demonstrated its dialogue with dental practitioners from all over the world. A similar philosophy as this is the basis for our International Fellowship Symposium series of events at VOCO's headquarters in Cuxhaven in Germany."
