VOCO, the dental company from Cuxhaven, Germany supplies its products to over 100 countries. Dentists around the world use the high-grade dental materials with the "Made in Germany" seal of quality - and this tendency is increasing. To cater to greater demand, VOCO has expanded its production facility, adding a new building.
Whilst it's facilities had already been expanded several times, VOCO's constant growth over the last few years had brought the manufacturing department to capacity. VOCO's management team reacted with the new building project for an additional two-storey production centre.
The ground was broken a year ago and mid-2016 the topping-out ceremony was held in the presence of a large number of guests. Now, after around twelve months of construction work, the new production building has been completed on schedule.
VOCO's management team, Ines Plaumann-Sauerbier, Manfred Thomas Plaumann and Olaf Sauerbier, were pleased with how smoothly construction proceeded.
With the completion of the production unit extension, VOCO has reached another important milestone. "The modern new production building provides 9,000 square metres of additional effective floor area which is significant for our ongoing positive development and the expansion of the VOCO brand in the global dental sector," the management team said in a joint statement.
VOCO began developing and producing dental materials in Cuxhaven in the early 1980s. The company now employs over 400 people in Germany - 350 of those in Cuxhaven located on the North Sea at the mouth of the Elbe River (Hamburg is upstream) - and 390 country-specific sales representatives outside Germany. In 1992, the new company headquarters was built on the Anton-Flettner-Strasse. The construction of the new production building is now the fourth expansion, following building projects in 1997, 2005 and 2013.
The costs for the production expansion stand at around 10 million euros. For VOCO's management team, "it is a worthwhile investment which paves the way for further successful development of our company and, of course, for the creation of further jobs".
