Troy Williams Appointed To Head The Australian Dental Industry Association

The Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA), Australia's peak body for the dental trade and allied service sector, has appointed Troy Williams as its national Executive Officer.

Starting in late April 2010, Mr Williams was selected following an extensive national search.

Mr Williams has considerable experience in working with trade associations and influencing the commercial, technical and regulatory environment in which business operates. His previous roles include Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Institute of Building (AIB), a national professional institute incorporated by Royal Charter and another professional institute, the Community Titles Institute Queensland (CTIQ), a professional organisation for managers of strata-titled properties. Other appointments include Assistant Executive Director of the Fire Protection Association Australia (FPA Australia), the trade association for the fire protection industry.

In announcing the appointment the ADIA President, Ms Pam Clark, said that Mr Williams' appointment will strengthen the links between ADIA and its counterpart bodies such as the Australian Dental Association (ADA).

"Troy has held senior roles with both trade associations and professional institutes, thus he is aware of and respects the symbiotic relationship that exists between a profession and its suppliers," Ms Clark said.

ADIA's participation in the development of the standards and conformance framework will be strengthened as a result of Mr Williams work in this area. He has an extensive knowledge of the standards setting framework in Australia and overseas, reflected in a detailed submission that he prepared for the Productivity Commission's inquiry into standards setting and laboratory accreditation during his time with AIB.

At FPA Australia Mr Williams worked with industry to establish a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) as a vehicle to increase the range of training programs to that organisation's members, experience that will prove invaluable in the further expansion of ADIA's services to members.

Mr Williams is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management (AIM).

Mr Williams will commence on 27 April 2010.
