TrioDent, makers of the V-Ring Sectional Matrix System, was judged the Sharp Tudhope Exporter of the Year at a James Bond themed awards evening in New Zealand.
"It's incredible. I didn't expect this but I know we have been doing well. It's a dream come true," said TrioDent CEO and inventor of the V-Ring, Dr Simon McDonald, DDS.
The event, organised by the Bay of Plenty arm of Export New Zealand, acknowledged hard work, innovative products and strong growth in the export sector.
TrioDent also took home the Page Macrae Innovation in Export award, giving merit to the innovative design of the V-Ring and their approach to developing and distributing to overseas markets.
Mark Redpath, president of Export New Zealand, BOP Region, said "TrioDent has demonstrated the true essence of a successful exporter. It has taken an innovative product concept and built a quality-driven production and service process."
TrioDent exports dental products to 57 different countries with the largest market in the United States.
TrioDent was formed in 2003 by Dr McDonald. Working as a dentist for 28 years, he became frustrated with the problems attached to traditional systems for Class II posterior composite restorations (badly formed restorations with poor contacts). His first major invention, the Tri-Clip, was a step in the right direction and financed the creation of the V-Ring Sectional Matrix System. This next invention propelled the small home business into a much larger company with a global market and avid following of clients. The V-Ring Sectional Matrix System comprises of the V-Ring, Wave-Wedge, V-Wedge and Tab-Matrix, along with complimentary patented forceps and tweezers.
