The National Dental Foundation (NDF) is an Australia wide dentist driven registered charity helping the genuine needy. It is a safety net for the segments of our society who are genuinely disadvantaged and do not access Public Health Services.
All segments of the Dental Industry are directly involved and play an active and valuable role. Established in 2005, the NDF has delivered over $5m in free dental treatment and helped raise the positive contribution dentists make to their local communities.
The NDF holds Dental Rescue Days with the help of dentist practice owners who volunteer the use of their practice for one day a year to treat needy patients referred by local major charities who work with the underprivileged on a daily basis which enable them to identify the genuine needy from the greedy needy.
Non practice owner dentists also volunteer to work in the participating practices together with volunteering hygienists and dental assistants. It is a great dental team effort.
The NDF does all the organizing for a Dental Rescue Day - it is a simple case of turning up to an arranged appointment book and delivering basic dentistry to the needy.
The need is great and increasing and the NDF needs more participating practices and volunteers.
