The latest in dentistry and oral health at 4-day Australian Dental Association-hosted event

Whether it's the growing use of artificial intelligence, Covid's effects on dentistry or new trends in oral diseases, the World Dental Congress (WDC) starting tomorrow has huge relevance for anyone interested in oral health.

The four-day FDI World Dental Federation - Special Edition one-of-a-kind virtual event hosted by the Australian Dental Association (ADA) runs from tomorrow, Sunday September 26 to Wednesday September 29.

It will explore new frontiers in dentistry in over 200 scientific sessions from dentists, dental academics and oral health experts from around the globe. Delegates from over 70 countries have registered to attend.

Some of the hottest topics to be covered include:

• vaping - a panacea to ceasing nicotine addiction or medical disaster waiting to happen,
• Covid and its impact on oral health,
• the latest on the use of digital technologies in dentistry,
• the many issues surrounding oral cancer, the seventh most prevent cancer worldwide,
• antibiotic resistance and its threat to public health,
• dental phobia and latest treatments to address it.

From a packed programme of talks and demonstrations, other topics of interest include the role of the Human papillomavirus vaccine in oral cancer prevention, computer-assisted surgery in facial reconstruction, and teeth grinding in your sleep.

Hosted by ABC news anchor Juanita Phillips, the WDC's highly technical multi-layered programme brings together leaders in dental practice, research, academia and industry in pre-recorded and live-broadcasted sessions from a bespoke studio at Sydney's iconic International Convention Centre.

The event also features a virtual exhibition showcasing the latest products and services with dedicated individual interactive zones allowing organizations to display information and engage with participants interactively via chat and video. There are also pre-recorded or live virtual exhibitor symposiums to demonstrate products and services.
