The International Team for Implantology (ITI), a leading academic organization dedicated to the promotion of evidence-based education and research in the field of implant dentistry, announced that it welcomed its 13,000th member on September 21, 2012. Since the end of 2008, the ITI has more than doubled its membership.
The 13,000th ITI Member is Dr. Adam Kaplan, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon from London, Canada, who signed up for membership during the ITI Congress Canada in Toronto. Dr. Kaplan was personally welcomed by ITI President Prof. Dr. Daniel Buser and the leadership team of the ITI Section Canada.
"It was just a year ago that ITI membership topped the 10,000 mark. Naturally we are very proud that we have been able to attract so many new members to our organization in such a short time. This is an amazing development and underlines the overwhelming demand from practitioners for evidence-based education and treatment guidelines that are delivered independently of commercial interests", said Prof. Buser.
"As a young professional, joining the ITI was a clear choice. The ITI is an organization dedicated to quality research and education, and this membership will help me stay up to date in this exciting field. Their protocols and guidelines have created an international standard of patient care in implant dentistry. I am honored to be the 13,000th member of this prestigious group", said Dr. Kaplan.
Having started out in 1980 as a small interdisciplinary group of 12 men with a vision for the future of implant dentistry, the ITI has grown into a leading authority that has contributed significantly to the standards and norms that guide the field today. The now 13,000 Fellows and Members are based in 102 countries worldwide and the majority of them are part of one of the ITI's 27 national or regional Sections.
Membership of the ITI offers a wide range of benefits to enhance professional activities. Through the various national and international events organized by the ITI, members are given the opportunity to meet like-minded professionals and have direct access to information on the latest developments in the field. Membership is open to all appropriately qualified professionals with an interest in implant dentistry. To find out more, please visit the ITI website: www.iti.org.
