How can Sinius treatment centers improve the patients' experience in dental practices? Dentsply Sirona's new marketing campaign The best place to be somewhere else points out how the Sinius' features have positive effects on the patients' perception of a dental treatment and therefore improves the patient experiences in a dental practice in general. The campaign focuses on five patient-oriented aspects: communication, comfort, integration, infection prevention and design. The campaign claim is based on the results of a dedicated study of DHBW Mannheim and Dentsply Sirona that has answered important questions such as: How do patients perceive a dental practice? What role does the treatment center play in the overall patient experience?
Surprising answers to: What do dental patients really want?
The study by DHBW Mannheim in cooperation with Dentsply Sirona, conducted with more than 1.500 dental patients from Germany, France and Spain, has brought some interesting facts to light. Firstly, the study summarizes the essential criteria for patients in dental practices who participated in the study: modern equipment and furnishings, hygiene and cleanliness, pleasant and warm atmosphere and friendliness of the staff. Upon entering, the treatment center is the most important element for the overall perception of the treatment room. Moreover, the design is positively connected with cleanliness, modernity, relaxation and job competence. This might explain the fact that for more than 50 percent of the patients an outdated treatment center is a reason to switch to another dentist. The patients' expectations seem to be age-dependent: The older the patients are, the more importance they place on a warm and appealing atmosphere. The younger the patients are, the more they value additional convenience, like patient communication. Additionally, 80 percent of the patients surveyed would like more information and tips about their dental health prevention.
"This international survey has revealed that treatment centers make a decisive contribution to the overall patient experience in a dental practice", confirms Prof. Dr. Martin Kornmeier, Head of double degree studies in International Business at the DHBW Mannheim.
Sinius – five key aspects support positive patient experience
To meet the patient needs, Dentsply Sirona's Sinius treatment center stands out in terms of five key aspects:
- Patient communication
- Patient comfort
- Integration
- Infection prevention
- Design
Michael Geil, Group Vice President Equipment and Instruments at Dentsply Sirona, adds: "The sophisticated functions and features of our Sinius treatment centers promote a positive patient experience. At the same time, they support the dentists in providing better, faster and safer treatments."
Optimal patient communication and comfortable positioning
The Sinius treatment center facilitates transparent and intuitive communication, thanks to the unit's comfortable positioning. The EasyTouch user interface in combination with the Sivision Monitor allows to engage patients easily at the chair via Windows Media Player or Microsoft PowerPoint. In addition, the SIDEXIS software offers immediate access to important data such as X-ray images. Finally, the high-resolution picture quality of the intraoral camera SiroCam AF/AF+ supports communication with a high degree of usability for the dentist. Comfortable positioning with an optimal height setting for mounting is easy – even for children and elderly patients. The combined motion of the backrest and seat prevents extension and compression of the spine, whereas the backrest's adjustable lumbar support function helps to compensate for anatomical differences.
Realizing personal treatment concepts through integration
Sinius supports each dentist's personal treatment concept, for example by integrating dedicated functions for endodontics and implantology. Since there is no need for additional table-top devices, the workflows are faster, more hygienic and more efficient. In terms of endodontics, the ApexLocator display on the SIVISION monitor serves as a visual assistant for workflows. The dentist starts the treatment quickly via the foot switch of the treatment center, which saves unnecessary preparation time. For implantology treatments, the dentists can individually set and save their usual workflow parameters such as speed, torque or the amount of sterile cooling fluid. "As every dentist has his or her own working style, the Sinius treatment center can be customized individually. In the end, the patient has experienced a pleasant visit and builds trust in the dentist", explains Susanne Schmidinger, Vice President Brand Marketing and Clinical Affairs, Equipment and Instruments at Dentsply Sirona.
Meeting strict hygienic requirements and high design standards
To fulfill stringent hygiene standards, Sinius integrates several functions, such as a disinfection system, to prevent bacterial growth reliably, as well as sanitization adapters. The latter facilitates the regular flushing of the water lines and the monthly sanitization. Parts critical for hygiene are detachable and thermally disinfectable or sterilizable. Besides these interior quality features, the Sinius' award-winning exterior design relies on high-quality materials that are comfortable and pleasant to touch as well as robust and easy to clean. Dentists can choose from a wide range of design options to match the individual style of each practice.
