Sydney-based dental lab, Stoneglass Laboratories, has been inundated with orders for high tech, CAD/CAM manufactured solid zirconium crowns after offering a bottle of the world-renowned Penfolds Grange Hermitage to dentists purchasing a special pre-June 30 package deal.
"The level of interest we are receiving for milled Zirconium restorations has been boosted significantly since we offered the Grange Hermitage promotion," said lab proprietor Georges Sara. "We are receiving work from all over New South Wales and Australia, both as part of the package and as single units from dentists wanting to sample the quality of Zirconium for the first time. The promotion has been so successful, we have been able to negotiate with Penfolds to modify and extend the offer."
Now, any dentist purchasing ten solid milled zirconium crowns from the lab before December 31 will receive a bottle of 1997 Grange Hermitage on delivery of their tenth crown. In the pre-June 30 promotion, it was necessary to pre-purchase the 10 crowns. Now, all purchases made up until December 31 count towards the Grange. In this way, according to Mr Sara, it allows dentists unfamiliar with Zirconium to try it before committing to all ten.
Stoneglass is the first laboratory in Australasia to install the Cercon Smart Ceramics System from Degudent (formerly Degussa). According to Mr Sara, the system can precisely manufacture single crowns, bridges, semi-fixed bridges, veneers, onlays and Maryland bridges from solid Zirconium (sometimes termed Zircon Oxide) ceramic blocks.
The quality of the Cercon Zirconium material has been independently certified by local and international Universities (details available from Stoneglass on request) to a very high standard. It is a material that is ideal for use in dental technology, being naturally white, biocompatible and very strong, making it suitable in both the anterior and posterior.
"Zirconium is growing to be the material of choice for crowns in Australia and worldwide," said Mr Sara, "and Stoneglass is one of the few local dental labs that can provide full, high tech, CAD/CAM manufactured solid zirconium restorations.
"It is the best material on the market and we want dentists to experience its strength and beauty first hand, so we came up with what we consider to be a very compelling promotion."
Mr Sara's Stoneglass Dental laboratory is centrally located in Burwood, Sydney, employs eight people and has the latest high tech lab equipment including the Procera system, IPS Empress system, Heraeus Kulzer Artglass system and a Bego laser welding machine.
The laboratory produces all aspects of metal ceramics, metal free ceramics, Artglass fillings and implants. It's milling systems mill Zirconium and also produce IPS Empress one restorations and implant work from single implant crowns to full arch reconstructions.
According to Mr Sara, it is the only laboratory in Australia that can produce implant reconstructions from fixture level to finished implant bridge using zirconium as the core material.
