Stellar line-up for IDEM Singapore 2010

Visitor and conference registration for IDEM Singapore 2010, to be held from April 16-18, 2010 at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre is now open.

The scientific programme features 18 world renowned experts from Europe, Asia and the Americas presenting the comprehensive programme "Encountering the Cutting Edge of Implantology and Aesthetic Dentistry" in a multi-tiered format offering participants over 30 CPD points. Trade exhibition space is already 80% sold and the event's combination of an expanded world class education programme and exhibition of the latest products and technologies is designed to appeal to a wide audience. In excess of 6,000 visitors and over 380 exhibitors are expected for IDEM Singapore 2010.

The expansion of the scientific programme and focus on the two "hottest" areas of clinical dentistry today have solidified IDEM Singapore's position as the pivotal event on the world dental education calendar for the Asia Pacific.

"In taking the IDEM Singapore 2010 scientific programme to a new level, we have assembled an outstanding line-up of speakers from across the globe who will explore the two areas of greatest current interest to contemporary practitioners," said Dr Phillip Goh, Chairperson, IDEM Singapore 2010 Scientific Committee. "By focusing on implantology and aesthetic dentistry, we believe we will attract significantly more participants than past meetings where the subject matter has been more diverse.

"For IDEM Singapore 2010, we have assembled a very comprehensive programme that will offer practitioners of all levels the ability to hear world class presentations from leading experts in their respective specialties. In this sixth staging of IDEM Singapore, the event has truly come of age and is positioned to positively influence the educational development of the entire Asia Pacific region and further afield."

Expanded scientific conference

The IDEM Singapore 2010 Scientific Conference features three concurrent educational streams comprising a combination of lectures and hands-on workshops. The comprehensive programme includes 18 renowned international presenters, commencing at 8.30am and concluding at 8.30pm for the 4-day duration of the event.

Day one of IDEM commences with Helmer Professor and Chairman of the Prosthodontics Department at the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry, Dr Gerard J. Chiche presenting his world renowned "Recipes for Predictable Anterior Aesthetics". The undisputed authority on aesthetics and ceramics in dentistry and author of two books published by Quintessence will deliver this SDA Masterclass Presentation over 8 hours, discussing the key areas for efficient aesthetic diagnosis and smile design.

Concurrent to this programme in the Suntec theatre, Dr Sebastian G. Ciancio, Distinguished Professor and Chairman in the Department of Periodontics and Endodontics and Director of the Center for Dental Studies at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, New York will present "Implants: A Periodontal Perspective". The author of over 150 publications pertaining to periodontal disease will provide an understanding of the relationship between periodontitis and implant failure. The microbiology associated with peri-implant mucositis will also be explored together with the various methods of treatment and the role of relevant medications.

In the afternoon of day one, Dr David A. Felton, Editor-in-Chief of the US Journal of Prosthodontics and author of over 40 journal articles, will present the FDI Lecture entitled "Tooth and Implant Supported Overdentures - Biomechanical Solutions for Success". The one time Chair of Prosthodontics at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry at Chapel Hill and past president of the American College of Prosthodontists will explore the biomechanics of tooth and implant retained overdenture prostheses, emphasizing aspects of planning tooth retention and implant placement for the partially and completely edentulous patient.

The third concurrent stream comprises hands-on limited attendance workshops including human cadaver courses centring on grafting and augmentation techniques.

From April 16-18, IDEM Singapore 2010 presents its largest and strongest team of educators to date including Dr Marcus F. Abboud (Germany); Dr Bilal Al-Nawas (Germany); Dr Gerard J. Chiche (USA); Dr Yong-Seok Cho (Korea); Dr Sebastian G. Ciancio (USA); Dr Shadi Daher (USA); Dr David A. Felton (USA); Dr Anton Friedman (Germany); Dr Bernard Giesenhagen (Germany); Dr Roland Glauser (Switzerland); Dr Ricardo Mitriani (Mexico); Dr Fotinos Panagakos (USA); Dr Keith Phillips (USA); Dr Marcus Schlee (Germany); Dr Bong-Hyeun Seo (Korea); Dr Pascal Valentini (Italy); Dr Tomaso Vercellotti (Italy); and Dr Ulrich Wegmann (Germany) who will present a total of 27 lectures and workshops on a diverse range of subjects related to implantology and aesthetic dentistry.

IDEM Singapore's commitment to creating a world class educational event has been rewarded with continual growth in delegate numbers, increasing from 600 in 2002 to a record 1,418 registrants in 2008.

The outstanding presenters and comprehensive curriculum is expected to attract a record audience. Participants from countries with mandatory continuing educational requirements can accrue over 30 CPD points by participating in the full programme.

New pre-congress day

For the first time, IDEM Singapore will also feature a Pre-Congress Day on Thursday, April 15. A choice of lectures and hands-on workshops are available for participants on implantology-related subjects including vertical augmentation with circular bone grafts, piezosurgery for implant site preparation, soft tissue management and maxillary sinus grafting.

Let's talk business

Another first for IDEM Singapore is a series of power-packed exclusive business talks for the industry, by the industry. Dentists will learn how to rejuvenate their practice and traders/manufacturers will learn how to ensure successful business growth in the Asia Pacific.

A broad spectrum of topics will be covered in this series of lectures. Leading industry experts will review current trends and issues in the industry, regulations and practice management. Subjects will include dental tourism in Asia - how the cost and patient expectations vary from one country to another; guarding yourself against malpractice and fraud; preventing embezzlement; facilitating the transition, termination and succession of your practice; and why you cannot ignore technology and how it will serve you best.

Exhibition innovation

Following the release of Exhibitor Prospectuses in March, over 80% of available exhibition space for IDEM Singapore 2010 has now been booked despite troubling economic times globally.

"We have been encouraged by the strong level of interest in participating at IDEM Singapore 2010 from both sponsors and exhibitors," said Michael Dreyer, Vice President of Koelnmesse Asia Pacific. "In these challenging economic times, the dental industry is looking for maximum return on any investment in marketing and we believe IDEM Singapore is a very cost-effective vehicle for communicating with dental professionals across the Asia Pacific region.

"IDEM Singapore 2010 provides dental practitioners with a convenient and cost-effective opportunity to be exposed to a comprehensive programme of world class dental education in a location central to and easily accessible from anywhere in the region combined with an extensive exhibition of new products and technologies. Combined, this format of meeting and exhibition creates a very successful synergy."

In another innovation, visitors with specific product interests will find it easier than ever to match their interests with the appropriate exhibitors before, during and after IDEM. A new online business-matching service provides easy sourcing and immediate contact with preferred exhibitors and can be accessed at www.idem-singapore.com once they have registered to attend the event.

IDEM Singapore 2008 drew record visitor numbers to both the scientific conference and the trade show packed with the latest product developments on offer for the dental profession. The 2008 event attracted 6,370 exhibition visitors from 56 countries and 1,481 conference delegates, both significant increases over previous years.

IDEM Singapore 2010 will again provide exhibitors with a world class event in the centrally located bustling island nation of Singapore. The Suntec Singapore Exhibition and Convention Centre continues to host the event and its location in the Marina district provides close proximity to a range of first class accommodation and facilities.

IDEM Singapore 2010 is organized by Koelnmesse Pte Ltd in conjunction with the Singapore Dental Association (SDA) and with support from FDI World Dental Federation. For more information, see www.idem-singapore.com
