St John Ambulance brand defibrillators

St John Ambulance has launched two ground-breaking Defibrillators - the G5 and G3 Elite - offering advanced audio and video technology to guide first-time users to apply defibrillation the right way and faster.

In a sudden cardiac arrest emergency (SCA), lives are saved by people who are brave enough to use a defibrillator, often for the first time. In Australia, 33,000 suffer from SCA each year and, at this point, 9% of these won't make it home.1 A person surviving an SCA will depend on two things - if they receive instant CPR and defibrillation within minutes. The shocking reality is that today only 1% receive defib help from bystanders.

What's perhaps even more concerning is that the SCA survival rate decreased, by half, during the pandemic due to COVID-19 safety protocols delaying paramedics by only 2 minutes.2 Every minute counts and if we rely on paramedics alone to save SCA victims, help may come too late. This is why it's crucial to have a defib handy in the workplace and to ensure people are comfortable using them.

It is St John Ambulance's mission to improve survival rate by increasing participation rate from 1% to 50% in in 2023.
