SDI first on new A380 Airbus

SDI Limited, Australian dental consumables manufacturer and exporter to the four corners of the globe, had the honour of participating in the inaugural flight of QF93, Qantas' A380 Airbus super jumbo service from Melbourne to Los Angeles.

The flight departed at 11.15 am on October 20 from Melbourne airport with a full compliment of 450 passengers on board including Qantas CEO Geoff Dixon and CEO delegate Alan Joyce, plus over half a tonne of SDI product bound for their Chicago warehouse. This flight marked the monumental aircraft's entry into normal operation, with two return flights to the US set to depart Australia each week, one from Sydney and one from Melbourne. "We send the majority of our stock to our warehouses by refrigerated 40 foot shipping containers, one per month, and top up additional requirements by airfreight," said SDI Limited Managing Director Jeff Cheetham. "The inaugural flight of the A380 to LA featured one such top-up consisting mainly of Riva and Pola products".
