Recognition For Driver Of Red Tape Reduction

Awards and accolades

The Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA), the peak business organisation representing manufacturers and suppliers of quality dental products, is pleased to announce the presentation of the ADIA President's Service Award to Mr Trevor Martin of Gunz Dental.

"The ability of ADIA to support the growth and sustainability of member businesses is directly attributable to the efforts of the many individuals who volunteer their time to work with the Association. Trevor's contribution to ADIA is exemplary of the fact that the Association could not function without the support of such individuals who serve on national and state committees to provide advice, guidance and practical input into its many programmes and initiatives," said Troy Williams, ADIA Chief Executive Officer.

Upon joining the ADIA Board in 2008, Trevor established a reputation as an individual able to ensure that decisions were made in the context of ADIA's strategic and financial objectives. This saw him become National Vice President from 2010-12 and then National President from 2012-14.

"During his tenure as ADIA National President the Association maintained its strong financial position and saw its policy advocacy efforts continue. The ADX Sydney dental exhibition confirmed its position as the nation's premier dental event and moved to its temporary home, the Sydney Exhibition Centre on Glebe Island, thereupon attracting its largest number of dentists to date," Mr Williams said.

The current Chair of the ADIA-BAC Business Affairs Committee, Trevor is a firm believer in ADIA's role as an advocate for policy reform that cuts the red tape faced by dental product manufacturers and suppliers. To this end, he has championed ADIA's development of policy statements on business taxation, workplace relations, international trade and other areas where government regulations frustrate the work of the dental industry.

"Trevor's work in this area helped drive ADIA's advocacy such as the Association's support of the Australian Government's policy commitment to progressively reduce the corporate tax rate for all businesses to 25% over the next ten years," Mr Williams said.

The ADIA President's Service Award was presented at the dinner held in conjunction with the 2016 ADIA Dental Industry Growth Conference. In making the presentation the ADIA National President, Mr Mike Covey said that on behalf of the ADIA Board he congratulated Trevor on this well-deserved honour which recognised his valuable support of ADIA and the broader dental industry.

"The ADIA President's Service Award is bestowed upon an individual who has set themselves apart through their tireless contribution to the development of the Association," Mr Williams said.

An ADIA President's Service Award criterion requires recipients to have made a contribution that spans at least three years, including the year in which the award is bestowed. They should have made an exceptional contribution that sets themselves apart from the services rendered each year by the many employees of ADIA member businesses that support the Association's activities. It is augmented by other honours including the ADIA Meritorious Service Award and ADIA Life Membership, both of which recognise long-standing and significant contributions to not only ADIA, but the broader dental industry.
