Procera goes on the road

Nobel Biocare is presenting a series of lectures around Australia in October titled Procera Ready To Use! Trend-setting restorative solutions and treatment options for all indications.

Presented by renowned aesthetic clinician Dr Stefan Holst and master dental technician Hans Geiselhöringer, topics will include:

  • Treatment solutions for your everyday routine - from single tooth to full-mouth;
  • New products;
  • Procera® on other implant systems;
  • Handling instructions for zirconia and alumina restorations;
  • NobelGuide™ - prosthetic perspectives;
  • Cementation and adhesive luting -which, when and how; and
  • Troubleshooting and solutions.

"Dental restorations generated with CAD/CAM technology are making a considerable impact in dentistry. Advantages related to materials and manufacturing will promote the continuous adoption of CAD/CAM systems over conventional casting techniques," Dr Holst said. "The advantages the Procera technology offers include: standardized quality guaranteed by industrial fabrication methods, excellent precision of fit, and outstanding biocompatibility, combined with adequate mechanical strength and provisions for aesthetic design. However, new materials and techniques can lead to long-term clinical success only if they are adaptable to clinical standards and needs.

"In our extensive presentation, all important aspects to attain predictable outcomes for today's patients are discussed. The team approach and interaction between the dentist and the technician provides step-by-step information for your everyday clinical and laboratory reality."

Topics in the presentation range from complete rehabilitation of the natural dentition, to complex edentulous situations with 3D-CT treatment planning and surgery to highly demanding single tooth restorations in the anterior maxilla.

Dr Holst studied dentistry at the Medical University of Hanover and obtained his doctorate in 2000 with the title of Dr. med. dent. From 2000 to 2001, he attended a postgraduate program in the Department of Prosthodontics at Louisiana State University, USA under the famous Prof. Gerard Chiche. He was appointed assistant professor at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU), Germany in 2001 and in 2006, Dr Holst completed his habilitation thesis and obtained his Dr. med. dent. habil. (PhD equiv) degree from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. His field of specialization encompasses aesthetic dentistry with an emphasis on implantology, perio-prosthetics and complex interdisciplinary treatments. His research work focuses primarily on digital dentistry, all ceramic restorations and material sciences, and the implementation of new optical measurement technologies for biomechanical analysis. Since 2006, Dr Holst has been appointed clinical associate professor and senior lecturer and heads the interdisciplinary histology section at FAU. He has authored several papers on implant prosthodontics, aesthetics and various prosthodontic subjects.

Mr Geiselhöringer first trained to become a dental technician in Germany and then completed his training to qualify as a Certified Dental Technician in Chicago, USA in 1991. This was followed in 1991 to 1992 by further training in New York, focusing mainly on anaplastology/epithetics. He then trained to become a technical business administrator, completing the course in 1994. After this, he took up the posts of business manager and laboratory manager concentrating on implantology and ceramics until 1998. Since 1998, he has been working on an independent basis with the company that he founded, Dental X GmbH, a laboratory specializing in implantology, anaplastology and functional and aesthetic reconstructions, in Munich.
