Prestige Milling Services, a partnership between Slater Dental Studio and Brisbane-based specialist prosthodontist Dr Michael Mandikos, has become the second site in Australia to become a 3M ESPE Lava Milling Centre.
The partnership was formed as a result of the principals realising the benefits the 3M ESPE Lava All Ceramic System offers to both the Laboratory and Clinician, as well as the confidence and respect both partners have in their fields of expertise.
"The optical qualities of 3M ESPE Lava Crowns and Bridges are second to none," said Michael Slater, Managing Director of Slater Dental Studio. "Translucency is the feature that is of most benefit to the dental ceramist and Lava delivers on this. Fit is also consistent and reliable and the system offers extremely accurate marginal integrity.
"My confidence in the Lava system and 3M ESPE was reinforced during a recent visit to Germany. Just observing the processing of the zirconia from the raw material to the completed block form actually on site at the 3M ESPE plant in Seefeld highlighted how committed the company is to the product. Whilst providing some fundamental grounding on Lava usage in the laboratory, visiting milling centres in Germany also excited me to the potential of the product. I am fully convinced of an exciting and explosive future using Lava!"
Slater Dental Studio has been in operation for 26 years on the Gold Coast and opened in Lindfield, Sydney three years ago. The two laboratories have 17 employees in total. Slater Dental Studio has built its success and reputation on their continual commitment to quality and service. This has been achieved through the passionate and highly qualified Slater Dental Team and by purchasing the best materials and introducing the latest dental laboratory products to their clients.
Dr Michael Mandikos maintains a private practice limited to Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry in Brisbane City. He is also a Visiting Specialist Prosthodontist to the University of Queensland Dental School, the Royal Australian Air Force and he is a reviewer for the Australian Dental Journal, the journal Quintessence International, and the International Journal of Brazilian Dentistry, Clinica. Dr Mandikos has presented continuing education programs at Dental meetings throughout Australia and South East Asia and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons.
According to Dr Mandikos, there were a number of reasons why he felt compelled to be part of the success of the 3M ESPE Lava All Ceramic System. "We all want to achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients. So, when you come across a new technology that can deliver the very best results, naturally you can't help but embrace it. I have been involved with Lava for some time, having seen it overseas and then been involved with the initial trials in Australia nearly 18 months ago. I have found the Lava technology to deliver extraordinary results with a precision that has not previously been accessible.
"I believe so much in the machine's benefits that I have invested in it to ensure this technology becomes integrated into Australian dental practice and delivers the best possible results to enhance our work, and consequently produce outstanding results for our clients."
