Pleasing result for ADX20 in face of COVID-19 concerns

Despite occurring in very difficult and uncertain times, the ADX20 dental exhibition held at Sydney's International Convention Centre (ICC) was a very worthwhile event, according to feedback from visitors and many participating dental industry exhibitors.

Occurring virtually on the eve of the Prime Minister's announcement banning large public gatherings, two of the three planned days of the event (Friday and Saturday, March 13 and 14) were successfully completed, allowing visitors to attend the trade show and most of the accompanying CPD sessions.

In fact, ADX20 was one of the last major public events held in Sydney before the tough new Government restrictions were announced, with the ADIA making the tough decision to not open on the final day of the event in the interests of public safety.

Despite this, Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA) CEO, Kym De Britt, said exhibitors reported that even though total visitor numbers were down on previous years, sales were good, conversations productive and good leads were captured.

Comments from exhibitors included:

"Everyone that is here, wants to be here and made the effort to attend."

"Friday was almost a record ADX day for us."

"If we had of opened Sunday, we would have broken previous ADX records."

This sentiment was also reflected by the leads captured by exhibitors through the ADX App which were on par with the record ADX18 event - the first held at the then brand new ICC Sydney complex.

ADX18 had 11,931 lead captures on the Friday and Saturday using the ADX App, while at ADX20 the number of leads was only slightly fewer at 10,932, showing a good level of engagement with suppliers.

Mr De Britt said he believed the Federal Government's announcement of the increase in the instant asset write-off from $30,000 to $150,000 would have helped significantly in some of the larger sales and that he hoped this trend would continue for the remainder of the financial year.
