The second meeting of OpusDent laser users was recently held at the ADA NSW Center for Professional Development in Sydney.
New York-based clinician, Dr Robert Convissar, facilitated, offering advice drawn from his extensive knowledge of laser dentistry.
The group viewed hard and soft tissue applications first hand using Diode, C02 and Er;Yag wavelengths on five patients. Discussions between the operating practitoner and group was conducted via a video and audio link allowing interactive questioning. and audience participation.
Dr Convissar presented and discussed the newly released 'Endo tip' for the Er;Yag wavelength as well as demonstrating on an animal model: gingivectomy; frenectomy; gingival troughing and lengthening; and gingival curettage.
According to Halas Dental laser product manager, participants were very impressed with the diversity of laser applications available.
As well as the clinical aspects of laser dentistry, Queensland dentist Andrew Gerber discussed laser integration into his practice and the success he has had with using the laser as a ideal marketing tool. Dr Wayne Martin from Tasmania detailed the OpusDent range of accessories.
