Spreading enthusiasm for CAD/CAM in dental practices and boosting training activity were the Digital Dental Academy's goals when the doors opened in Berlin in July 2016. Led by Dr. Klaus Wiedhahn, 11 renowned CEREC experts and instructors from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland joined forces to establish this training center. Everyone, from beginners to experienced users, find the conditions ideal here for further training tailored to meet their needs. In addition to the national courses, international courses are held in the respective languages. Dentists, dental assistants, and dental technicians can expand and enhance their knowledge here. The DDA Berlin is the forum for ISCD CEREC trainers and mentors.
Spacious facilities, sophisticated technical equipment
With 920 square meters, the DDA offers ample space for intensive courses in both chairside and laboratory restorations. Dentsply Sirona CAD/CAM helped equip the course facilities with CEREC equipment, Treatment Centers (Teneo), the Orthophos SL 3D X-ray unit, inLab workstations with laboratory scanners, milling units and sintering furnaces. All areas of the facility are digitally networked, from the imaging system to the treatment center. Among the highlights of the courses in the first year were events for integrated implantology, bite registration with CEREC, optimization of the laboratory, and the Sidexis 4 imaging software as a multifunctional tool. DGCZ certification for CAD/CAM assistants will be held in the fall.
"The first year of the DDA was a huge success, with around 140 courses attended by some 1,000 participants," said co-founder Dr. Klaus Wiedhahn, dentist from Buchholz and an experienced CEREC user. "In addition to offering basic seminars in practices, the concept of creating a second equally important component of qualified CEREC training at the DDA has proved a success."
Furthermore, the academy is also used for larger events, such as the CEREC trainers' International Society of Computer-Assisted Dentistry's 19th annual conference. Dentsply Sirona has also hosted CEREC Experience events at the academy and invited mentors from all around the world to CEREC training activities.
CEREC - the secure CAD/CAM solution that opens up new possibilities
The Digital Dental Academy is thus the third institution in the world alongside Scottsdale, AZ (USA) and Taipei (Taiwan) to specialize in CEREC training. "We are extremely pleased that the CEREC system has such dedicated supporters who are willing to share their know-how and experience with other dentists and dental technicians during training sessions and courses. This is something that we as the manufacturer cannot provide in this way," said Dr. Frank Thiel, Group Vice President CAD/CAM, Dentsply Sirona. "We know from surveys that patients value state-of-the-art treatment. Education institutions such as the DDA support dentists in the optimal implementation of the innovative CEREC technology in their practices for the benefit of their patients."
In this way, both the Digital Dental Academy and Dentsply Sirona itself offer a wide range of courses. There are interesting programs for newcomers to CEREC as well as for experienced users. Information and registration here: https://www.ddaberlin.com/dda-kurse
