Nobel Biocare introduces innovative iPad-operated drill motor at Europerio 7 and announces Global Symposium 2013

Apps Research Events New Products

At the Europerio 7, the world's leading conference in Periodontology, Nobel Biocare will introduce, in partnership with Bien-Air Dental SA, its new and innovative iPad-operated drill motor, OsseoCare Pro.

The first drill motor ever to be operated by an iPad, OsseoCare Pro combines unique handling features and an intuitive iPad-based interface providing clinicians and their patients with the highest treatment efficiency and security. The OsseoCare Pro app is available to all purchasing customers and offers numerous innovative features and functions, such as pre-programmed drilling protocols, storage of patient files, customized sequences, storage of operation reports, and secure entry for multiple users with personalized settings. New innovative features will be added and updated via the Apple App Store - so it is easy for users to keep the application up to date and keep enhancing the performance levels of the system. The drill motor itself also boasts clear advantages. The Contra Angle has, among other benefits, an exceptionally small head, vertical irrigation with optimal irrigation supply and two LED lights to avoid shadow areas. Furthermore, the micromotor is the lightest and most powerful on the market. Market availability is expected as of fall 2012 and will support Nobel Biocare's continued effort to shape a more efficient digital treaent workflow.

Nobel Biocare announces Global Symposium to be held June 20-22, 2013 in New York City
Nobel Biocare will host the Nobel Biocare Global Symposium 2013 in New York. The event will take place from June 20-22, at the Waldorf=Astoria in New York City. The Symposium's program will build on Nobel Biocare's mission "Designing for Life: Today and in the future". "Designing for Life" is Nobel Biocare's commitment to helping dentists treat more patients with better solutions. And it is a commient to improving the quality of life of every patient through solutions that are designed to deliver fully functional, natural-looking results with the aspiration to last a lifetime.

The Nobel Biocare Global Symposium 2013 builds on Nobel Biocare's series of scientific symposia started in 2012. The exclusive three-day event, chaired by Professor George Zarb, will bring together over 70 of the world's most renowned experts and speakers in restorative dentistry to discuss key current and emerging trends as well as techniques and technologies shaping the industry's future. The symposium will feature a new program format that outlines treaent workflow from patient presentation to treaent follow-up. Nobel Biocare has pioneered innovation in the industry and continues its commient to creative synergy between scholarship and industry to ensure the best possible dental treaent journey for all patients.

Europerio expert sessions on patient-oriented treaent approaches and marginal bone maintenance Two Nobel Biocare Sponsor Sessions at Europerio will bring together industry experts to discuss key topics in implantology. On June 7th, a panel of industry experts, moderated by Dr Massimo Simion, will discuss patient-oriented treaent approaches with a focus on implant esthetics, soft tissue health, long-term followup, anatomically compromised patients and the importance of teamwork. Dr. Simion will be joined by Dr Eric Rompen, Dr Giorgio Tabanella, Dr Inaki Gamborena and Dr Bertil Friberg. On June 8th, Dr Daniel van Steenberghe will moderate a discussion with a group of renowned experts on the maintenance of marginal bone around oral implants. The group includes Dr Marco Esposito, Dr Bjorn Klinge, Dr Joerg Meyle, Dr Andrea Mombelli, Dr Eric Rompen, Dr Thomas E. Van Dyke, Dr Hom-Lay Wang and Dr Arie-Jan van Winkelhoff.

On June 7th Nobel Biocare will also run two parallel master classes on the topics of angled implants and concepts (such as those used in All-on-4), materials and long-term treaent outcomes. Furthermore, Nobel Biocare will showcase several of its products that support patient-oriented treaent approaches and marginal bone maintenance. Nobel Biocare product experts will be on hand to address any questions.

Presentation of recently launched dental implants and diagnostics and planning software
Nobel Biocare will demonstrate at Europerio its three recently launched implants that build on the principles of osseointegration while promoting soft tissue health. NobelReplace Platform Shift and NobelReplace Conical Connection feature connections that are designed to maximize soft tissue volume and are especially suited for the esthetic region. NobelActive 3.0 provides narrow-fitting implant solutions and is specifically designed for the replacement of single-unit maxillary lateral incisors as well as mandibular lateral and central incisors.

The next-generation NobelClinician Software is the first diagnostics and treaent planning software available for both Mac OS X and Windows. It serves an increasing demand in the dental community as dental professionals frequently also use Apple devices in their dental practice. The latest version provides enhanced efficiency and safety - it has new visualization features and is open for other major implant systems. NobelClinician underpins Nobel Biocare's lead in making improvements in treaent effectiveness and shaping truly digital dentistry.

New long-term 10-year TiUnite studies document longevity and performance
Nobel Biocare implants feature the high-performance implant surface TiUnite. TiUnite is made of a very effective biomaterial that enhances osseointegration. It is engineered for performance - even under the most challenging conditions. Its unique osteoconductive capabilities stimulate natural bone growth, provide short and long-term success and qualify for immediate loading. TiUnite has set the standard in implant surface technology. Since its launch in 2000 it has been clinically documented in more than 190 publications with over 9,600 patients, 29,000 implants and up to 10 years follow-up. And, in total, more than 11 million implants with the TiUnite surface have been used. This makes TiUnite the most placed and clinically researched implant surface.

A recently published long-term study in Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research supports TiUnite's strong performance. The study, by Drs Marco Degidi, Diego Nardi and Adriano Piattelli, documents the 10-year outcome of immediately loaded implants with the TiUnite surface. It concludes that immediately loaded implants with a TiUnite surface placed in both post-extractive and healed sites achieve excellent survival rates.1

Another 10-year study that validates TiUnite's long-term efficacy has also been published in Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research. The prospective study, by Drs Par-Olov Osan, Mats Hellman and Lars Sennerby, aimed to evaluate the survival rate, marginal bone, and soft tissue conditions at TiUnite dental implants after 10 years of function. At conclusion of the study, TiUnite implants were confirmed to display good long-term clinical outcomes after 10 years of function.2

Nobel Biocare Symposia 2012 celebrate the 60- and 30-year osseointegration anniversaries
The programs of all Nobel Biocare Symposia 2012 will continue to celebrate the origins and evolution of osseointegration as a practical and trusted treaent modality over the last six decades. Each program will also include lectures on recent advances in treaent, presented from surgical, prosthetic and laboratory perspectives. Speakers will look towards the future as well, presenting current trends and possible future developments for bone-anchored restorative dentistry.

In 1952, Professor Per-Ingvar Branemark discovered the principles of osseointegration in Sweden. Thirty years later, in 1982, the discovery was acknowledged, and his subsequent findings confirmed, at an historic conference of dental authorities organized by Professor George Zarb in Canada. The proceedings of this meeting enabled dental implants to gain acceptance as a treaent method in the global dental community.
