Sydney's Westmead Hospital Dental Clinical School and Australasian Dental Practice (ADP) magazine have entered into a joint venture to publish personalised patient newsletters for dental practices around Australia.
Entitled "Your Dentist", the new practice marketing tool has received a fantastic response from practitioners nationwide since its announcement in the last edition.
This new venture means dentists now have a 'customised marketing tool' to provide patients with details about their practice while also communicating the latest dental health care information.
The newsletters will contain information provided by Westmead Hospital Dental Clinical School on dental health topics written in a style that will be of interest to the general public.
"The key objectives of the newsletters are to provide dentists with a professionally produced medium for advocating good oral hygiene to their patients while at the same time helping Westmead Hospital Dental Clinical School raise much needed funds for research," said Joseph Allbeury, publisher of ADP.
Dr Angus Cameron, Westmead's Head of Paediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics, believes more needs to be done to highlight dental oral health information relevant to the community.
"Dental Health Week means the public spotlight is really only on dental health issues for one week each year," Dr Cameron said. "We need to do more to raise awareness by helping the community shift towards preventative dental health care. This has to start with dentists communicating this message to their patients."
The newsletters will be published quarterly and can be purchased in large quantities by a practice for distribution to their patients.
