New V-Ring matrix system launched to world

The new V-Ring sectional matrix system, designed in New Zealand, was introduced to the world at the IDS 2005 in Germany.

"This latest product has attracted a lot of interest," said Simon McDonald, the inventor of the V-Ring and the already popular Tri-Clip, Double Wedge and Tab-Matrix systems.

"Dr Hugh Byrnes from Aesthetic Dental Care in Ireland introduced it to members of the European Society for Esthetic Dentists (ESED) at the show.

"Dr Wolfgang Richter, president of the ESED, immediately saw the advantages of the V-Ring over its competition and took away a set for evaluation. Being made of Nickel-Titanium, it is super elastic, is very small and separates well, but the main advantage of the V-Ring is that it has a patented V-shaped gap between the legs of the tines for the wedge. This overcomes the frustrating feature of other retainer-rings whereby the ring and the wedge get in each other's way or they collapse into wide cavities.

"The V-Ring's accompanying sectional matrix is also a great idea and is called the Tab-Matrix. It has a small tab that can be folded over and held with ordinary tweezers to aid placement and pin-holes on the outer wings so that it can be pulled out easily with the new 'Pin-Tweezers'.

"In the USA, the new V-Ring system has been extremely well received by some of the top speakers. John Kanca has described it as 'Fabulous', Jorge Perdigao says they are "spectacular'."
