New resin-modified glass ionomer cement

3M ESPE has launched the newest member of the RelyX cement family, RelyX Luting 2 Resin-Modified Glass Ionomer Luting Cement in the Clicker dispenser.

Over four years in development, RelyX Luting 2 cement combines the convenience of paste/paste delivery and state-of-the-art resin-modified glass ionomer technology into an easy to use, routine permanent luting cement.

"The real benefit with this product is the ability to vary the dosage for multiple unit cementation that you can't achieve with uni-dose capsules," said Michael Heal, marketing manager for 3M ESPE Australia. "Working with capsules on multiple unit procedures requires several capsules to be activated. RelyX Luting 2 is a faster and more cost-effective alternative as you can vary the dose depending on what is required."

Mr Heal said that with uni-dose systems, it is time consuming to remove the packaging, activate the capsule, place it in an amalgamator and then extrude. With the 3M ESPE Clicker dispensing system, you take off the cap, click off as much as you need, mix it with a spatula and then use the same spatula to apply it to the crown. The Self-contained Clicker dispenser holds enough material to cement 40 single unit crowns and the consistency of RelyX Luting 2 has been modified for optimal mixing, loading and seating.

"RelyX Luting 2 is quick and easy for single units but also allows you variable dose convenience for multiple units. It is designed to appeal to customers who use traditional luting cements for routine metal, porcelain-fused-to-metal, strengthened core ceramic, metal post, and stainless steel crown cementations."

RelyX Luting 2 cement delivers a chemical bonding to tooth and restoration with a low incidence of post-operative sensitivity and sustained fluoride release.
