The popular concept of experienced clinicians mentoring to share and discuss complex cases has been translated to the internet with a new website developed by four local dentists.
www.DentalMentor.org is designed to provide online continuing education using actual clinical cases, with new material derived from leading local practitioners being added regularly.
The "founding faculty" of the site are well known in the field of continuing
education, comprising (pictured left to right): Dr Michael Danesh-Meyer (Periodontist - Auckland); Dr Glen Liddelow (Prosthodontist - Perth); Dr David Dunn (Cosmetic/Implant Dentist - Sydney); and Dr Brent Allan (Oral & Maxillofacial
Surgeon - Perth). Collectively, the group have thousands of hours of teaching experience between them as well as running their own cutting-edge private practices.
"Dentistry has always been a very
practically-based profession," said Dr Danesh-Meyer, "and Dentalmentor.org is unique in providing continuing dental education through the use of real clinical cases that you can review online.
"Case histories, radiographs, clinical charting, treatment outcomes and more are presented in a well-structured format followed by a series of multiple choice questions. By answering the related multiple choice questions online after each case, you will learn more about the conditions presented, thereby better preparing you for the management of your own patients as well as earning CPD credit."
Dr Danesh-Meyer said a variety of challenging and stimulating clinical cases are offered, categorised into 4 main groups: Restorative & Dental Implant; Periodontal; Aesthetic Dentistry; and Oral and Maxillofacial surgery.
On joining DentalMentor.org, members will receive a printed membership certificate and will have access to the member menu within the website which allows you to review which cases you have completed and how many CPD points you have earnt.
Membership also provides the ability to print a customised report of all the clinical cases you have completed online. Furthermore, DentalMentor members will be eligible for discounts on selected courses offered by faculty members throughout Australasia. Courses offered by the faculty are also listed on the website.
Members can now earn CPD credit online 24/7. New cases will be added on a regular basis so you can continue to earn CPD credit throughout the year. Content
is eligible for CPD with the NZDA and complies with current Dental Board of Australia guidelines. You can try the free sample cases online today and see how easy it is to get started with e-learning!
