Auxiliary and Oral-B are pleased to announce that Module 21 of the Oral-B Auxiliary Education Programme - titled Periodontal Inflammation - will be the first of the current 21 education modules to provide online CPD that is fully automated with self-study of the scientific article and a 20 question, multiple-choice assessment.
It will feature an immediate response marking, which includes highlighting of the correct answers. In addition, a Certificate of Completion designating the accredited CPD hours will be automatically generated upon attaining a successful pass mark of 80% or better. The certificate will even be personalised with your name.
The Oral-B Auxiliary Education Programme, established in 2003 as an integral part of Auxiliary magazine, has been helping dental professionals to stay up-to-date on current topics through both published and online modules. The 20 education modules published up until the end of 2006 so far cover a variety of clinical, technical and systemic health topics. Modules 1 to 20, as well as all future modules will be included in the automated online CPD. It is expected that dental professionals will have access to the current range of education modules by the release of the May/June 2007 edition of Auxiliary.
Regulations governing the practice of registered dental professionals are progressing to mandatory continuing professional development (CPD) to maintain their registration status, as is now established in Victoria and in the ACT (January 2007). Now more than ever is a good time to begin shaping new avenues that offer more flexibility to the dental professionals in fulfilling their registration requirements.
The new automated online CPD reflects a streamlined assessment offering the advantage of learning about current research, materials and perspectives with the questionnaire challenging your understanding. It offers the convenience of learning and studying from your home or office, 24 hours a day, without missing time away from the practice or the financial burdens of mainstream CPD.
$1500 cash prize only on offer for full written assessments
The annual Oral-B education competition will continue with entrants required to complete the traditional full assessments that involve additional study along with preparation of written assignments, thus requiring a more comprehensive understanding of the material from the participant. The overall winner of this competition is eligible to win a cash prize of $1500 courtesy of Oral-B (see article on page 6 detailing the 2006 winner).
