Macleans has entered the consumer mouthwash market with the launch of Macleans Coolmint and Macleans Freshmint antibacterial mouthwashes at FDI Sydney 2003.
The new mouthwash contains cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) 0.05%, a broad-spectrum, antimicrobial compound that helps control the anaerobic bacteria that produce volatile sulphur compounds and thus bad breath and also reduces the formation of plaque acids.
Therapeutic levels of fluoride (sodium fluoride 230ppm) help to remineralise surface defects in enamel, promote the remineralisation of developing caries lesion; and prevent tooth decay.
According to Macleans, unlike chlorhexidine, Macleans Mouthwash does not promote extrinsic tooth staining nor promote formation of supragingival calculus.
Available in two flavours, Coolmint and Freshmint, the pleasant tasting mouthwash retails for $4.99 and is available in Coles and independent supermarkets.
