New Imprint™ 4 Preliminary VPS - Preliminary Impression Material: Makes alginates a thing of the past

New Products

3M ESPE announces the launch during July of Imprint™ 4 Preliminary, a VPS material for those who set great value upon making highly accurate preliminary impressions in a convenient and time-saving way. Imprint 4 Preliminary VPS material is ideally suited to take the place of alginates and will be available as of July 2014 with two different setting times – "Super Quick" and "Regular" – replacing the existing Position™ Penta™ VPS Preliminary Impression Material.

Imprint 4 Preliminary VPS material with a patient-pleasing mint flavour is recommended for all typical alginate indications such as provisional crown and bridge impressions, opposing jaw and study model impressions. In addition, it is indicated for preliminary and orthodontic impressions as well as impressions for bleaching trays and mouth guards.

Compared to alginates, the VPS material eliminates many time-consuming work steps and automatic mixing with the Pentamix™ System ensures a homogeneous, void-free and reproducible mixing quality. Moreover, unlike alginate impressions that cannot be stored and are suited for only one pouring process, impressions taken with Imprint 4 Preliminary VPS material offer long-term dimensional stability and can thus be poured multiple times whenever convenient. This allows for easy remakes of models and provisionals. The material's hydrophilicity ensures that models can be poured without pre-treatment of the impression surface and models show a very high surface quality. Plus, impressions made with Imprint 4 Preliminary material can be fully disinfected without losing dimensional stability.

Imprint 4 Preliminary impressions are ideally suited as a matrix for the fabrication of temporary restorations. For exceptionally tough and great fitting temporaries of natural aesthetics the clinically proven Protemp™ 4 Temporization Material from 3M ESPE is recommended. In combination with Imprint 4 VPS material a smooth surface and a low smear layer that can be removed from the impression without effort is achieved. Easy access to the digital workflow is ensured since the pink-colored Imprint 4 Preliminary VPS impression material is scannable.

For a further simplified workflow, the VPS material may be used with a disposable 3M™ ESPE™ Impression Tray that does not require a tray adhesive thanks to its self-retentive fleece. The trays are available in three different sizes (S, M and L) for the upper and lower jaw.

Like all products of the successful family of Imprint™ 4 VPS Impression Materials for precision impressions and Imprint™ 4 Bite Registration Material, the new Imprint 4 Preliminary VPS material is designed to add control, precision and convenience to everyday procedures in the dental practice.
