A-dec Australia has appointed Craig Young as its new General Manager, following the retirement of industry icon, Keith Mentiplay, on May 30 after 25 years with the company.
Mr Young is well qualified for the role, bringing diverse business experience and qualifications including his recent role as A-dec's Territory Manager in New Zealand as well as other responsibilities in Australia.
Mr Young is particularly known in industry circles as the former owner and manager of West Coast Dental Depot in Western Australia from 1991 until 2004. During that time he played a key role in establishing sales of A-dec and associated dental equipment into Western Australia and the broader Australian market.
He was also State Secretary of the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA) in WA for three years and has played a high profile role in coordinating A-dec product training, equipment installation, servicing and surgery design, including leading a tour of A-dec Australia staff, dealers and service technicians to A-dec's headquarters in Newberg, Oregon USA in 2005.
His experience extends to servicing both private dentists and Government customers, having played an instrumental role in overseeing the fit-out of Griffith University's brand new School of Oral Health and Medicine on Queensland's Gold Coast and facilitating the selection of A-dec equipment for the University of Western Australia's 113-chair teaching facility.
Prior to entering the dental industry, Mr Young completed a Bachelor of Business in Accounting and Law at Curtin University in WA and spent seven years with IBM becoming a senior executive and business analyst with the company's mainframe division.
Mr Young is in the process of relocating to Sydney with his family.
