New features and improvements to Planmeca ProMax® 3D X-ray units

New Products

Planmeca ProMax® 3D is a family of true all-in-one X-ray units that provide digital panoramic, cephalometric and CBCT imaging, 3D face photos and 3D model scans, i.e. impression and plaster cast scans. Planmeca constantly develops its state-of-the-art imaging units and is now proud to introduce new features that further improve their image quality, patient comfort and usability.

The Planmeca ProMax 3D family includes five different units: Planmeca ProMax 3D s for applications where a smaller field of view is sufficient, Planmeca ProMax 3D Classic for general 3D applications with a field size covering the mandible and maxilla, Planmeca ProMax 3D Plus with a large variety of volume sizes, Planmeca ProMax® 3D Mid with the widest range of imaging possibilities, and Planmeca ProMax 3D Max including field sizes from a single tooth to the entire maxillofacial region.

In addition to their wide selection of volume sizes and optimal patient doses, the Planmeca ProMax 3D family units are known for their simple and effortless patient positioning offering an unrestricted view of the patient and easy side entry access. Planmeca now introduces to the units a new adjustable and autoclavable patient support that helps to keep the patient better in place and thus also improves patient comfort.

Planmeca's user interface designers have also designed a completely new graphical user interface to all Planmeca's 2D and 3D X-ray units. The big interface guides the user to a fluent workflow with clear and explicit texts and preprogrammed target sites and exposure values. "Our in-house designers and usability specialists constantly develop our units in order to ensure perfect usability and a smooth workflow without any unnecessary steps," says Mr Timo Müller, Vice President of X-ray division at Planmeca Oy.

In addition to these improvements, Planmeca introduces a new panoramic imaging modality to Planmeca ProMax 3D Max and a new, bigger sensor to Planmeca ProMax 3D Mid, thanks to which the biggest volume size generated by the unit is now up to 20x18 cm. This also signifies a considerable improvement to the image quality as well as a larger target area. At the same time, the size of the SmartPan panoramic image increases.

A new sensor generation is also taken into use in Planmeca ProMax 3D Classic and Planmeca ProMax 3D s units, so the improvement in image quality also applies to these units.
