Due to the overwhelming number of entries received in the recent "Win a surgery makeover competition", Halas Dental and Medifit advise that the winners will now not be announced until the November/December edition of Australasian Dental Practice.
"The judging process has proved to be very arduous," said Geoff Parkes, National Equipment Sales Manager for Halas Dental Limited, "and we hope all entrants understand that to give each entry due consideration, the amount of time required to complete this task is quite significant.
"We received a great deal more entries than we expected and the judging panel, who have all volunteered their time, have been hard pressed to meet the deadline. In the end, the logistics of moving several hundred entries from judge to judge around two countries and several states and the time involved in reviewing them all individually meant that it was only fair on everyone involved to push the announcement of the winner back an edition."
Organised by Halas Dental Limited and specialist dental design and construct company, Medifit, the first prize of the competition is a consultation, design, plan and fitout for a treatment room and reception area to the value of $45,000. Also included in the prize is a Sirona C8+ "Vision" Treatment Centre complete with fibre optic lines, electric motor, scaler, handpieces, intraoral camera, LCD monitor and stools; a Sirona Heliodent DS x-ray; a Girardelli x-ray film processor; a compressor; suction motor; and a curing light; plus installation, new uniforms for all staff and a day spa package for up to six Auxiliary staff. Total prize value is approximately $120,000.
Apart from the overall winner, six second prizes of a free consultation, design and strategic master plan from Medifit are up for grabs; plus six third prizes of a day spa treatment for up to six Auxiliary staff.
"We apologise for any inconvenience this delay may have caused and once again thank all of you for taking the time to enter, and for your patience while the judging process is completed."
