The Ivoclar Group is one of the world's leading suppliers of integrated solutions for high-quality dentistry, offering a comprehensive range of products and systems for dentists and dental technicians. The company now announces the new IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime Esthetic - an exciting new development in zirconia ceramics. IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime Esthetic offers high quality, accuracy of fit, stability and extremely natural looking results.
The new IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime Esthetic belongs to the family of the proven IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime zirconia materials and goes a step further by defining a new level of aesthetics. The revolutionary material delivers a superior level of quality and high-end aesthetics and enhances the efficiency and profitability of dental laboratories. The new zirconia discs are designed to provide monolithic restorations with outstanding aesthetics. IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime Esthetic is easy to use, as convincing results are achieved in just a few steps and with little manual effort when fabricating crowns and 3-unit bridges. IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime Esthetic offers therefore an ideal combination of efficiency and aesthetics.
Convincing aesthetic and physical properties
IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime Esthetic is characterised by a genuinely layer-free progression of shade and translucency. The material enables a method to achieve the desired aesthetics and high stability efficiently by providing incisal areas with the required high level of translucency and cervical areas with optimally coordinated levels of opacity and adequate strength (850 MPa). Given the precise shading of the material, an accurate match with the A–D shade guide is easily achieved by polishing or glazing the IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime Esthetic restorations after they have been milled and sintered. This is all-ceramics at its most efficient. The successful combination of two zirconia materials has resulted in a material that offers an ideal balance between stability and aesthetics. IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime Esthetic is available in a comprehensive range of 16 A–D and 4 Bleach shades and in 3 disc thicknesses (14mm, 16mm, 20mm) with a diameter of Ø 98.5 mm each.
Gradient Technology - an innovation in aesthetics
The Gradient Technology (GT) used in the manufacture of IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime is the key to the superior level of quality and aesthetics that distinguishes this material. Gradient Technology involves three innovative manufacturing steps. Two zirconia raw materials are combined in a unique manufacturing process to produce a single material that incorporates the best qualities of both. In the case of IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime Esthetic, this innovative combination consists of a robust, highly translucent 4Y-TZP zirconia raw material to achieve the required stability in the dentine area and thus to offer an attractive spectrum of applications and an exceptionally translucent 5Y-TZP zirconia raw material to provide the necessary translucency in the incisal area for a natural looking enamel. This blend ensures the lifelike appearance of restorations.
An innovative filling technology is used to provide the material with its excellent seamless and layer-free progression of shade and optimised translucency. Visible layers, which are occasionally found in other multi-zirconia discs, are thus avoided with IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime Esthetic.
Advanced powder conditioning is utilised to adjust the sintering kinetics and ensure a uniform shrinkage behaviour across both raw materials. This process results in a material that enables an exceptional accuracy of fit.
In the final manufacturing step, the discs are compressed from all sides at high pressure in a state-of-the-art Cold Isostatic Pressing (CIP) process to improve their microstructure and optimise their translucent properties. This process also primes the material to be sintered in shorter cycles.
