inSafe dental syringe stops needlestick

The ground-breaking inSafe dental syringe is a breakthrough in dental safety, providing extraordinary protection against needlestick injury without imposing any restrictions on how the dentist operates.

The inSafe syringe handles like a traditional syringe, uses standard dental needles and cartridges and doesn't require any change of technique. It features a regular syringe unit with a pop-up sleeve that locks around the needle after an injection, so reloading the unit with a new anaesthetic cartridge or dismounting the needle won't expose the needle tip. The inSafe syringe also includes a specially designed sharps container that disconnects the needle from the rest of the syringe in a single twisting movement, without needing to be manually handled by staff. It can also be dismantled for sterilisation. inSafe was developed by UK-based Astek Innovations and was named Product Innovation of The Year Award at the 2009 Dental Awards in London, with judges claiming it was the first complete solution to the problem of dental specific needlestick injuries.
