Exciting, inspiring, powerful ̶ that is how most of the attendees described their experiences at Dentsply Sirona World, which came to a close in Orlando on Saturday, Sept. 15. Various breakout sessions, hands-on workshops, and lectures, plus numerous product presentations on a total of twelve topics provided attendees a comprehensive insight into current trends in dentistry.

New solutions for safe treatment processes
Dentsply Sirona presented many innovations in Orlando. Azento™- single tooth replacement is providing everything the dentist needs for the implant treatment, including a proposed surgical and prosthetic plan, and all components and instruments needed for the case – it could not be simpler. This streamlined custom implant solution enables consistently excellent results both for the patients and the dental practice. It is designed to help dentists provide the optimal implant size, position, healing environment, and restoration for every case, enabling a great patient experience and fast turnaround times. Practices reduce their workflow process to scanning, approving the treatment plan, and performing the implant procedure. Azento takes care of the rest. Azento will be available in Canada and Europe in 2019.
In the field of imaging systems, the Sidexis 4 software and the Orthophos SL X-ray unit software have been updated. Dental practices and hospitals now benefit from added functions and even better 3D image quality. This is accompanied by a new 3D endodontic layout for even easier analysis, the complete integration of SICAT Endo, and new image filters.
Technologies and strategies for successful practices and laboratories
More than 100 recognized dental experts gave attendees at the three-day Dentsply Sirona World congress a taste of how digital technologies and smart strategies can make practices and laboratories even more successful. Numerous workshops highlighted how the products and solutions help benefit dentists, assistants, and dental technicians in their practice, but that their expertise is ultimately what makes the products and solutions work cohesively and successfully in their environment.
A special highlight was the live surgery, held during the opening General Session, that was transmitted from a separate room into the large conference hall. A patient was fitted with a bridge produced with CEREC SW 4.6 for the already-placed implants. The implants had previously had a screw-retained temporary restoration.
With more than 200 Breakout Sessions available within 12 educational tracks, attendees were impressed with the myriad quality educational sessions. Topics ranged from introductory to expert, and hands-on sessions provided attendees the chance to learn from industry experts in a collaborative space allowing attendees to apply and test their knowledge on the spot. The ultimate objective is for event attendees to leave with ideas on how to improve their daily work within their practice and to expand their network of peers.
Relaxed atmosphere with first-class entertainment
The exciting professional program was rounded off by extraordinary entertainment events. Doris Kearns Goodwin, the best-selling author and Pulitzer Prize winner, spoke to General Session attendees during her keynote speech about her experience in "Leadership in Turbulent Times". Comedian Jim Gaffigan cast a mocking eye on current events with his unique brand of humor. The phenomenal private concert by Global pop superstar Katy Perry had attendees on their feet while she performed top hits like "Roar," "Teenage Dream," and "Firework." The event closed with an Oktoberfest-themed celebration.
Guests were blown away and it was clear that everyone was already looking forward to Dentsply Sirona World 2019 to be held from October 3-5 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas.
