The Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA), the peak representative body for suppliers of quality dental product, has elected Managing Director of Gunz Dental, Mr Trevor Martin, as the ADIA National President for the next two years.
Mr Martin assumes the position at a time where ADIA has been most active representing the dental industry and helping member businesses understand the impact on their businesses of changes to the commercial, technical and regulatory environment.
"As ADIA National President, my commitment is to work with the ADIA Board and Chief Executive Officer to help steer the peak body representing the dental industry in Australia through the current challenging economic times and help cement long-term success through ensuring the dental industry's needs are understood by government and product regulators", Mr Martin said.
"I am committed to ensuring that the Association continues to lobby the Australian Government to secure a regulatory and framework for dental products that is based on a risk management approach designed to ensure public health and safety, while at the same time freeing industry from an unnecessary regulatory burden," Mr Martin continued.
A high priority for Mr Martin is to continue the broadening of the membership base and to engage with members by increasing their participation in ADIA activities.
He paid tribute to his predecessor, Mr Daryn Bungey, retiring Directors Mr Nathan Chanesman and Mr John Waghorne, the latter also retiring from the role of ADIA Western Australian President. He paid special tribute to Ms Pam Clark, retiring Immediate Past National President who has been a member of the ADIA board since 1995. Pam will continue making significant contributions to ADIA and the broader dental industry through her involvement in the Australian Dental Research Foundation (ADRF), International Dental Equipment Manufacturers (IDM) association and the development of international standards for dental products.
