The staging of the inaugural Australian Dental Expo (ADX) in Melbourne in May has proven a success with almost 4000 people from all corners of the dental community attending the 3-day event. Dentists and specialists made up 45% of all visitors.
"The inaugural ADX has by all accounts been an outstanding success," said Mr Duncan Campbell, Executive Officer of the Australian Dental Industry Association, the organisers of the event. "We set out to establish the ADX brand as a unique identity for our major biennial dental exhibition and we've managed to accomplish this goal.
"The feedback from our exhibitors has been overwhelmingly positive. We conducted an exhibitor survey after the show and the vast majority of the respondents indicated the show had been a commercial success."
ADX was staged at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre from May 26-28 and some 140 companies exhibited. 66% of all visitors came from Victoria with the next largest contingent coming from NSW (14%).
"We've come away from the inaugural ADX with a lot of very valuable feedback for the next event in Sydney in 2008. The statistics clearly show, for instance, that opening the event on a Sunday was less than ideal with the day only accounting for 7% of first time visits and 11% of all visitations. So for the future, we may look at opening Thursday to Saturday rather than Friday to Sunday.
"There will also be other more subtle changes designed to enhance the overall experiences of visitors to the show."
