IDEM Singapore 2004 has attracted more than 5,000 visitors from 47 countries during April 2-4. Staged at Suntec Singapore Exhibition and Convention Centre, IDEM was organised by Koelnmesse and its subsidiary in Singapore in conjunction with the Singapore Dental Association (SDA).
233 companies from 33 countries exhibited in support of the comprehensive conference programme which attracted record numbers of registrants.
"The IDEM Singapore 2004 Scientific Programme has experienced a tremendous jump in registered delegates," said Dr Tang Kok Weng, President of Singapore Dental Association. "600 people registered at IDEM 2002 whereas this year, there were 956 dentists participating."
Dr Tang said that implants and cosmetic dentistry were the hot topics of conversion amongst dentists in the region and that the Scientific Programme reflected this trend.
57 percent of attendees came from outside Singapore with strong representations from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, India, South Korea, Australia and Japan.
The trade exhibition included suppliers from Europe, Asia, the Americas and Australia. The largest contingent came from Germany (56 exhibitors), followed by Singapore (35), the USA (31), Korea (25), Italy (17) and Brazil (9).
"IDEM is a unique opportunity to reach out to a broad spectrum of dentists across the region that in our normal day to day activities we may never get to meet," said Ms Malou Marasigan, Marketing and Communications Manager for 3M ESPE Asia Pacific and Latin America. "IDEM is about relationships - creating new relationships and strengthening existing ones."
