Honourable mention for Planmeca

Two of Finnish equipment manufacturer Planmeca's products, the digital Planmeca ProOne panoramic X-ray and the Planmeca Sovereign dental unit have received honourable mentions in the 2009 Fennia Prize design competition.

The products have previously received recognition in the iF product design awards in both Germany and China. The ProOne was designed to be simple and affordable yet technologically advanced with a wide selection of exposure programs and parameters to ensure that radiographic examinations of all kinds are effortless to perform. The uniqueness of the Planmeca Sovereign lies in its motorised operations which enable full conversion from right-handed to left-handed use. The prize jury evaluates the entries with regard to usability, responsibility and business aspects. The success in the competition was based on the core values of design, suitability to the visual environment and the way in which a product communicates the desired values.
