High Tech Laser Australia Pty Ltd has capped a successful 2003 with a December symposium on Laser Dentistry in Nanjing, China.
The co-operative venture saw representatives from High Tech Laser along with private and academic laser dentistry experts visit one of the fastest growing regions in China.
The Keynote speaker was Professor Laurence Walsh from the Uni of Queensland. Dr Douglas Stewart from University of Sydney's Westmead Dental Hospital accompanied Prof. Walsh as part of the academic delegation.
The symposium covered all aspects of laser dentistry including teeth whitening, cavity preparation, soft tissue surgery, low-level laser therapy and Photo-Activated Disinfection.
Dentists from the Nanjing Region were in attendance, along with dental students and Chinese Health Authorities.
According to High Tech managing director Matt Moncrieff, the visit was part of the company's ongoing commitment to continuing education and development in the field of laser dentistry.
"China's high uptake of technology makes it ideal as a launching point for laser dentistry into Asia.
"The current level of development in China, combined with its position as the world's largest single market, means that we can bring the benefits of laser dentistry to the widest possible audience.
"I was very impressed with the response from delegates. There is considerable enthusiasm for new technologies such as laser dentistry and we are keen to open and develop these new global channels.
"Establishing laser dentistry links with China helps us consolidate Australia's position as a leader in the field.
"The Australian delegation was greeted warmly by local officials and dentists. They said they were honoured to develop links with international experts in such a cutting-edge field."
Mr Moncrieff said that High Tech Laser intended to return to China this year to continue developing academic and commercial relationships in the region.
"Nanjing and the whole Jiangsu province represent an excellent opportunity which we will continue to nurture this year."
