As part of a major overhaul of its laboratory business unit, Henry Schein has launched Connect Dental in Australia, a new global brand under which its range of CAD/CAM technology solutions will now be marketed. Connect Dental is designed to offer both clinicians and technicians access to open, independent products cost-effectively that can be integrated with almost all of the latest digital workflow technologies available today.
"Henry Schein has reinvented its laboratory business unit to reflect the challenges facing the modern dental laboratory," said Henry Schein Halas Laboratory Marketing Manager, David Wagenheim. "A particular focus in this evolution has been the fast moving CAD/CAM segment of the market and how it digitally connects dentists, laboratories and the specialist in ways never before imagined.
"The ability for a dentist to digitally scan a patient's mouth and send that data electronically to the laboratory in real time is very exciting. The latest generation of intra oral scanners allow the dentist to review the scan whilst the patient is still in the chair, which means that each digital impression has the ability to virtually be perfect every time.
"That same digital impression or a scan of a model can be uploaded into a myriad of dental design software programs and with
some easy manipulation, almost any restoration, including partial dentures and implants can be designed quickly and efficiently. Once this is done, the digital file can then be sent to a bench top machine or an industrial milling centre for milling or 3D printing.
"At Henry Schein, our relationships with key players globally will allow us to offer cost-effective access and a broad range of choices in the rapidly evolving world of digital dentistry."
Henry Schein has invested heavily in new products from the likes of 3Shape, Vhf, 3M ESPE, E4D and Envisiontec as well as new materials for both industrial- and lab-based mills from market leading brands like VITA and Zirlux with more in the pipeline.
"We will also be coming up with novel ways where you can own any or all of this technology by rewarding you for products you currently purchase from Henry Schein Halas," Mr Wagenheim said. "This makes CAD/CAM through Connect Dental even more affordable than ever before.
"Lastly and most importantly, we have invested in staff for both sales and support. We have four new members of staff dedicated to provide you with the right solution and support to help you navigate the rapid technological changes facing dentistry today."
