Henry Schein Halas Equipment launched

Following the acquisition of Halas Dental by Henry Schein, Inc in May, a new equipment company has been formed. Henry Schein Halas Equipment, as it is known, has assumed responsibility for the sales, service and support of all the equipment and technology products that have to date been available from either Halas Dental or Henry Schein Regional (see inset).

"Selling and supporting dental equipment is a specialised business that requires specialised knowledge," said Mr Geoff Parkes, Divisional Manager at Henry Schein Halas Equipment. "With the acquisition, it made a lot of sense to merge the equipment sales into one, combining the expertise and experience of staff from both companies to be able to better focus on meeting the needs of our customers.

"We now have a very comprehensive range of products that both represents the current edge of technology in dentistry as well as more traditional products that every dentist needs to run a successful practice."

Mr Parkes stressed that Henry Schein Halas Equipment is an extension of Halas Dental and Henry Schein Regional (HSR) and practices that deal with either organization should continue to do so.

"Regardless of whether you are a customer of Halas or HSR, if you call and need assistance with equipment, then we will assist you."

Mr Parkes said that Halas Dental has traditionally been renowned for its high level of equipment service and support and this commitment will transfer to the new organization.

"We are fortunate to begin with a team of sales and service people second to none that are very experienced and well-respected in the dental community. We are now in the process of supporting them with the introduction of a comprehensive training programme to not only ensure their product knowledge is exemplary but which will also ensure continued improvements to their level of customer service and support. This is the first time a dental organisation will have done this to such an extent, and we believe this will translate into better experiences for our customers and cement rewarding, long-term relationships."

Mr Parkes said that there is now a team of nine general sales reps working for Henry Schein Halas Equipment in Australia backed by a further three specialists. In addition, Daryn Bungey will assume management for chairs, x-ray and digital products; Rebecca Sail is product manager for microscopic dentistry; Gordon Forrest is product manager for Morita products, sterilisation, instruments and small equipment; and Mark Taylor is product manager for practice management software. There is a showroom in each state, and a network of in-house and contract service personnel is in place.

"Our product range is already very comprehensive and we can supply a dentist with essentially anything they need right now. Having Henry Schein behind us also means we will be able to pick and choose between the best new products worldwide.

"We intend to have the best products on the market backed by the best people in sales, service and support. We are committed to this and are investing in ensuring we can deliver on this which will benefit our customers now and into the future."
