Gunz Dental has been appointed as a distributor of the prestigious Vatech diagnostic imaging product range to the Australian dental community by IntegraHealth Group (IHG).
According to Trevor Martin, Gunz Dental Managing Director, "The Vatech range of products is a perfect fit with Gunz Dental's product category focus to provide our customers with the best available products in each category."
Key products in the Vatech range that Gunz will offer are the Pax Primo OPGs, Pax-500 OPG and Ceph with an upgrade option to 5x5cm CBCT and the Pax-Uni3D OPGs, OS Ceph and 8x5cm CBCT, along with the EzSenor range of digital intraoral x-ray systems.
IntegrHealth Group will now concentrate on the broader medical radiology market as well as offer three larger FOV machines to the dental community.
According to Mr Martin, a unique selling feature of the Vatech OPG range is that it is the only product currently available with an upgrade path to CBCT, should the dentist's requirements alter.
"In addition to top-notch product support, this upgrade path is a key consideration when purchasing new technology. Gunz Dental is making a number of major investments in personnel and infrastructure to ensure that our customers' expectations of Gunz Dental and the products we sell are met; it's all about support" said James Tran, Gunz Dental's Equipment Product Manager responsible for overseeing the Vatech product portfolio.
"IntegraHealth Group held discussions with several dental companies over the past year or so and after ticking all the boxes we sat down with Vatech and Gunz to create the new distribution model," said IHG Managing Director David Cathie.
"At the upper end of the market, the PaX-Duo3D, Reve3D and Zenith3D all with larger 3D FOV's remain with IHG within the Australian market place and IHG, DRC and Pacific Specialties continue to support the entire Vatech range in New Zealand and PNG."
IntegraHealth Group's Director of Radiology Products, Mr Greg Chambers added, "IHG was becoming overwhelmed due to the girth of the Vatech product range and market demand. We are excited about sharing the portfolio with Gunz, particularly when we consider their commitment to the Vatech brand. A noteworthy and very positive element born by this new arrangement of Vatech, IntegraHealth Group and Gunz working together is collaboratively we extend product support to Vatech product users enormously.
"The new business model affords IHG more time to deliver radiology solutions such as bone mineral density, digital mammography and general x-ray systems to hospitals and radiology clinics."
According to Mr Cathie, the 2007 launch of Vatech imaging systems in Australia and New Zealand changed the landscape of the 2D and 3D extra-oral imaging market for good.
"Why? Simply put, the world's largest manufacturer of 2D and 3D dental imaging systems brought the price down and forced better known competitor brands to reduce their pricing by up to $150,000 to stay in the game," he said.
"Since then, a little over 130 Vatech systems have been installed in Australia and New Zealand and now in 2010, Vatech produces no less than 21 varying configurations of its wide and impressive range of dental imaging systems."
Terry Tan of Vatech Asia HQ said, "We are really quite pleased with the progress and growth in Australia and New Zealand. Australian Dentists seem to have taken to the Vatech brand with enthusiasm which is probably largely due to the high quality images, value for money and the wide spectrum of product choice that can supply solutions for every clinical requirement and budget".
