Swiss company Geistlich Pharma has established a local affiliate in the Sydney suburb of Chatswood, Australia and commenced direct distribution of its products within the specialised dental implant sector. Geistlich's range includes market-leading bone substitutes, membranes and matrices under brand names Bio-Oss®, Bio-Gide®, Mucograft® and others.
Geistlich Pharma Australia Pty Ltd is headed up by Managing Director, Dr Torben Hackl, who has had a long affiliation with the company's range through his previous role as Oral Surgery Manager at long-term distributor and current local partner
Henry Schein Halas.
"The specialised nature of the Geistlich range and its growing base of implant dentists in Australia and New Zealand has necessitated the establishment of a greater local presence alongside our partner, Henry Schein, to ensure our products are fully supported with training and education," Dr Hackl said. "Our dental biomaterial products - Geistlich Bio-Oss, Geistlich Bio-Gide and Geistlich Mucograft - are used by leading surgical specialists including periodontists and oral and maxillofacial surgeons in a variety of periodontal, dental implant and craniofacial indications.
"With the establishment of a regional headquarters in Sydney and with dedicated product specialists providing service nationally, we can ensure that Geistlich will continue to provide the necessary support for the increased needs and demands of our implant specialists as well as their patients."
All Geistlich products available in Australia are registered with the TGA and Bio-Oss has been included in the Blood Donor Selection Guidelines allowing patients to donate blood to the Australian Red Cross Blood Service.
With more than 700 scientific publications, amassed over a 25-year period, supported by a dedicated and dentally qualified field team, Geistlich can rightfully claim to be "Leading Regeneration".
