From residential to dental surgery design

Since joining the growing design team at Levitch Design Associates (LDA) a year ago, Sashikha Hinton has made the leap from a background in residential design to the highly specialised field of dental surgery design.

After completing a Bachelor of Interior Architecture with Honours at the University of New South Wales, Ms Hinton worked on a wide range of residential projects throughout Sydney and Queensland before joining LDA last October. Since then, she has worked closely with LDA's Senior Project Designer for Healthcare, Antony Poate, to gain an understanding of what makes great surgery design. To date, she has worked on several healthcare projects including a recently completed high-profile cosmetic practice in Perth's CBD as well as a number of Orthodontic, General and Cosmetic practices throughout QLD and NSW. "It's fantastic to work with such a great mix of young and innovative designers like Sashikha, who offer fresh ideas and new perspectives and older, more experienced designers such as Antony, who have an in-depth understanding of how a dental surgery functions," said Anne Levitch, Design Director at LDA. "In finding the right balance between raw talent and more experienced designers, we can achieve surgery designs with a high degree of presentation as well as functionality."
