Filling the Gap to stage volunteer dentist information evening on July 30

In the Indigenous communities around Cairns and the Atherton Tablelands of far north Queensland, access to dental care has been a long term, ongoing problem.

There are long waiting lists for basic care and this has been causing people with minor problems to develop acute or chronic conditions. Filling the Gap helps address this problem by providing a flexible program allowing dentists to volunteer 1-2 weeks at a time to work at Wuchopperen in Cairns. Filling the Gap assists with the airfares, Wuchopperren provides accommodation, registration fees for ADAQ and provides access to a car. The Filling the Gap Dentist Volunteer organisation are having an information evening where you can meet members of the Filling the Gap organisation and returned dentists from 6pm on 30 July 2009.
