ESPE will be conducting the largest international clinical evaluation study ever undertaken on impression materials.
The study which runs from November to the end of February, will involve 10,000 practicing dentists and 200,000 patients contributing clinical information from all around the world. ESPE is providing a research grant of US$10.3 million in equipment and supplies for this study.
Data will be collected and tabulated by an independent research firm under the consultation of four independent and leading dental schools.
Scott Ross, marketing manager of ESPE Australia, said local dentists have an opportunity to participate in this study but numbers are limited to 600.
"Australian dentists can contribute further to the body of scientific literature and also take advantage of the personal benefits that participation will bring," Mr Ross said.
Mr Ross said dentists who participate will benefit in a number of ways: being part of an international scientific study; contributing to scientific knowledge; will receive a copy of the study's results and personal certificate of participation; and will get a free Pentamix impression material mixing system and clinical study pack.
"This study is designed to improve the quality and functionality of the products we use," Mr Ross said. "Participation in this program will help us go one step further towards providing even higher quality dental care."
