Harvard-based Dr Theodoros Kapos has been elected as the new Chairman of the EAO Junior Committee. He is succeeding Dr Isabella Rocchietta (Italy), who has served the past years as Chairman.
Dr Kapos is very proud to have been elected as the new Chairman. "I am very much looking forward to my new role in the Junior Committee," says Dr Kapos. "Isabella Rocchietta has done a terrific job. I look forward to continuing her initiatives."
As the new Chairman, Dr Kapos' main focus points are promoting the European Association for Osseointegration to young professionals and enhancing the communication between them. "It is important young professionals remain in close contact with each other and share their know-how. Next to that, the Junior Committee and I would like to broaden and strengthen the relationship between young professionals and the EAO by supporting the Board of Directors as much as possible," states Dr Kapos.
Dr Kapos is currently an instructor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Biomaterials Sciences at Harvard University. He teaches in both clinical and didactic courses for undergraduates and postgraduates alike. He previously received his DMD from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Following this, he completed a three-year specialty programme once again, at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where he earned an MMSc degree in oral biology and a certificate in prosthodontics. Finally, he completed a two year Advanced Graduate Implantology programme.
Next to his scientific activities, Dr Kapos maintains his specialist clinical skills in a Harvard private practice. Dr Kapos' research interests include variations of head and neck anatomy, applications of CAD-CAM technology in implant dentistry and clinical research related to implant aesthetics.
Dr Isabella Rocchietta will take up the role of Past Chairman and remain very dedicated to the activities of the EAO Junior Committee.
The Junior Committee consists of top young international clinicians and researchers supporting the activities of the EAO Board. They develop new ideas to improve and grow the association, following EAO's view to work for the good of patients.
