Body Logic Resources are presenting a 9-day mini-residency on Diagnosis and Treatment of TM Disorders in the second half of the year presented by Dr Steve Olmos. The program, to be held on the Gold Coast, will be split into three 3-day sessions in each of July, August and September.
“Rarely does a dental professional step onto the global speaking stage that can arguably be regarded by his or her peers as a true leader in their chosen field,” said Trudy Nielson of Body Logic Resoures. “By showing a steadfast commitment to learning and a selfless dedication to sharing that knowledge with his colleagues, Dr Steven Olmos is one of those people.”
With over 23 years in private practice, Dr Olmos has restricted his professional career to treating Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction, Orofacial Pain and Sleep Disorder Breathing for the past 18 years, using, first and foremost, a non-surgical and conservative treatment philosophy.
With a comprehensive array of postgraduate and continuing education, Dr Olmos’ resume reads like that of a well respected bibliography. More than 2200 hours of education have been accumulated to date and he shows no sign of slowing. His qualifications include:
- Diplomate status in the American Academy of Pain Management (AAPM),
- Diplomate status in the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain (AACP),
- Diplomate in electro diagnostics (JVA, EMG, and Jaw Tracking) by BioResearch Assoc. Inc.
- Fellowship in the International College of Cranio-Mandibular Orthopedics (ICCMO),
- Certified in Head and Neck Imaging from the American Academy of Head, Neck & Facial Pain (AAHNFP) at Baylor Dental School,
- Certified in Motor Vehicle Injuries and Pharmacology by the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain (AACP),
- Certified in Sleep Disorders and founder of the Academy of Clinical Sleep Disorders Dentistry (ACSDD).
He has also been honored for his contributions to dentistry by being awarded Fellowship in the Academy of Dentistry International.
Now an international lecturer, Dr Olmos has developed his own unique, comprehensive, highly informative and fascinating mini-residency in Temporomandibular Joint Disorders and Orofacial Pain. Each three-day block comes with its own manual that rivals any textbook on the market today and provides an excellent reference source.
According to Ms Neilson, during these nine days you will learn by a series of lectures, computer aided video presentations, and practical demonstrations:
- Functional and Neuroanatomy of the TMJ Complex, Electro modalities (JVA, EMG, T-scan, TENS, Energex), Clinical Examination, and Radiology (General radiographs, Tomograms, CT’s, MRI’s – when, why and how).
- Pharmacology, Splint design (how to, when you should and when you shouldn’t), and Concepts of General and Orofacial Pain.
- Craniomandibular Disorders, Phase I and II treatments, Orthodontics in TMD, and Differential Diagnosis of Ascending and Descending Neurological Problems.
“To finish off these series of lectures, you will have the opportunity to witness first hand, the concepts taught when real time sufferers of TMD and OFP are seen, assessed and diagnosed by Dr Olmos right in front of you,” Ms Neilson said. “Every dental practitioner with an interest in improving the quality of their diagnostic skills, updating and refreshing knowledge long forgotten, or those just trying to better understand this complex area of dentistry that effects so many of our patients on a daily basis, should not miss an opportunity to attend.”
