Innovative Australian companies Designs for Vision and Hogies have formed a partnership to introduce the new fashionable and versatile Mediview spectacle frames to the market.
Many years of research have resulted in Mediview, a unique concept in spectacles that came about in order to utilise the dramatic advances in materials and technology that have occurred in recent years.
Mediview is a patented magnetic platform concept integrated with a modern and fashionable spectacle frame which accommodates Keeler loupe systems and surgical illumination.
A unique feature of Mediview is that it will allow the dentist to employ spectacle prescriptions, eye protection, additional illumination and magnifying devices separately or combined in the one system. Existing Keeler loupes can also be upgraded to Mediview.
Hogies designs are renowned for their form, functionality and appearance. The company's current range of protective spectacles are designed to ensure a minimum of fogging even if a mask is worn. The unique bridge design ensures comfort and accurate positioning irrespective of the facial features of the wearer.
Designs For Vision was founded in 1978 by Richard Grills, who has been working closely with Keeler of the UK in updating and perfecting their loupe designs. Particular attention has been paid to the dental field where closer working distances and specific fields of view are required.
Martin Hogan, General Manager of Hogies, has been designing spectacle frames for the past 40 years. He has worked with the Australian Defence Force and NASA developing anti-glare spectacles, which were adopted as the standard aircraft issue with the RAAF and are also used by NASA.
The anti-glare spectacles have received an Australian Design Council Award for Excellence.
Hogies released their first protective eyewear range over 20 years ago and are now commonplace in surgeries and operating theatres throughout Australia and New Zealand.
