Dentsply supports cycle around the bay

A group of Dentsply's staff and customers recently took part in the "Around the Bay in a Day" challenge in a quest to raise money for The Smith Family.

Over 16,300 people participated in the annual event which is Australia's largest mass participation bike ride. The Dentsply team consisted of nine riders and each person chose there own distance ranging from 50 to 250 kms.

"For many of us it was our first time on such a ride," said Adam Novalija, Business Development Manager – Laboratory for Dentsply Australia, "so a number of us caught up for a weekly training session prior to the event (stopping for the odd latte!). The great thing is that most of us enjoyed it so much we are continuing with the training tradition!

"Our General Manager Greg Fox, formed a support crew offering everything from encouragement to Powerade and protein bars at the halfway point. Next year we plan to take it even further and may have a few more recharge points.

"I was surprised by the amount people in the dental industry that are cyclists to the point where our discussions within Dentsply have lead us to offering support for a larger group in 2009."
