Dentavision customers over the past 12 months may have had the pleasure of meeting Pearce McGuinness (pictured). Apart from working for the company in a customer service capacity, Mr McGuinness is currently part of the Under 20's soccer team for Marconi and plays a defensive role.
The highlight of 2003 came when he was called to play in First Grade against a touring Representative Vietnamese team at the Marconi home ground at Fairfield. The Vietnamese team was supported by two Brazilian players. Marconi won the game one-nil and McGuinness was in the starting line-up and played a full game. He was congratulated on his performance by the First Grade Coach, Jean-Paul de Marigny, Assistant Coach Andy Harper and the Under 20's team coach, Tommy McCulloch, as well as many of the regular first grade players including Nick Carle who played professional soccer in France.
Mr McGuiness has played soccer since the age of six and has played for Northern Spirit, Sydney Olympic and Melita. Since the age of 12, he has played representative soccer at Super Youth League and is now playing at the highest level possible for his age in Australia, National Youth League.
According to Dentavision Managing Director, Bob Young, Mr McGuinness has taken to his role at Dentavision with enthusiasm and enjoyment.
The company allows him to accommodate his contractual soccer commitments by allowing him to stagger his hours to fit in his training and playing needs. This season will see him travel to Canberra, Newcastle, Wollongong and Brisbane for games and he trains three nights per week.
"The team ethics and camaraderie that he has gained over the years have helped him fit in to the strong team at Dentavision," Mr Young said. "He is keen to learn and genuinely enjoys assisting the customers and has impressed us with his standard of customer commitment and his ability to learn new roles quickly."
